How to Make Chicken Dressing
In this instructable, I will show you how to make chicken dressing.
Ingredients
For this recipe, you will need:
Cornbread (you can use the recipe in my last instructable)
2 chicken breast
3 pieces of toast
3 eggs
2 1/2 c chicken broth
1/2 c milk
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 1/2 tsp rubbed sage
1 tsp poultry seasoning
3 stalks of celery
8 tbsp butter & a separate 2 tbsp butter
2 onions
Boil Chicken
Add the chicken to a pot of boiling water and cook for 30 minutes.
The Fun Part.
In a large bowl, crumble all of the cornbread.
Break off little pieces of the toast and mix in with the cornbread crumbs.
Mince the celery and onions via either knife or food processor.
Shred the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the boiling water, place in a large bowl and shred using two forks.
Oh Sauté
Melt the 8 tbsp of butter in a skillet on medium high heat and add the onions and celery.
Sauté onions and celery for 5 minutes.
Tis' the Seasonings
Now mix in the sage, poultry seasoning, salt and pepper.
Liquidation
In a medium bowl, beat the eggs, then add the milk and mix thoroughly.
It's All Coming Together.
Add the egg mixture to the bread mixture and stir until combined.
Oh Broth (er)
Pour the broth in and stir until combined.
Now for Something Else
Add the onion/celery mixture and stir until combined.
Last Addition to the Bowl
Add the shredded chicken and mix it in thoroughly.
Almost Show Time!
Spread out the dressing evenly in a baking dish. Rule of thumb for size, if it fits, it's okay.
Top the dish with the remaining 2 tbsp of butter that's been cut into small pieces.
Bake!
Place in an oven that's been preheated to °350 for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
Enjoy!
