How to Make Sploosh-O-Matic From Splatoon! (Prop Only)
Ever played Splatoon and wondered how cool it would be to have one of the weapons in real life? Well now you can! By following my Instructable, you can make your very own Sploosh-O-Matic! (Does NOT shoot ink, just a prop) The Sploosh-O-Matic is my favorite weapon in Splatoon, so i decided to make one.
Supplies
For this build you will need...
- Cardboard
- Paper towel roll (or 2 toilet paper rolls)
- Really thin sticks
- Paper
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and sticks
- Box cutter knife (optional)
- Cardstock (or paper)
- Paints
- Paintbrushes
- A reference image
- Masking tape
Once you get all these materials, then we can get started!
The Main Body PT. 1
To start, use the paper towel roll as the main body for the weapon. Using a reference image, cut and glue the sort of crescent shape on the main body. This part is tricky so it may take a couple of tries to get it right.
Next, make a rectangle that can wrap around the roll, this will be a part of the back. Then, take 4 strips of cardboard but make one longer like the 3rd picture.
Time for the upper half of the main body. First, draw something like in the 4th picture, then trace it backwards and cut it out. Then glue it on like in picture #5.
Main Body PT. 2
Next, we'll make the... timer, gauge thingie (IDK what it is). To make it, cut a piece of cardstock or paper into a circle and glue it onto the top piece on both sides and also cut a small arrow and color it red like in the 1st picture. Also cut a piece of cardboard to put at the end of the thingie, picture 2. Next, cut a rectangle of cardstock and glue it like a circle on the gauge and color it black. Then, cut another strip of cardboard and connect the back and front like in picture 4
Main Body PT. 3
Cut yet ANOTHER strip of cardboard and glue it on the front this time like in the first picture. Almost done now. Next, cut a piece of cardboard that kinda looks like a golf club, look at the second picture. Then trace it and cut it again. Glue it on and put a piece of cardboard that looks like a shine on it like in the third picture. Then, cut a rectangle from cardstock and put it into an almost-circle and glue to the bottom like picture #4. Next, cut a curved rectangular piece from cardboard and glue it like in picture 5. Cut a piece of cardboard like in picture 6 twice and glue it. And... your done! Or, at least with the main body.
Nozzle and Back
For the last things, I'll start with the nozzle. It looks like the end of a trumpet and to make it look like that, well use 6 triangles to make the shape, the size for each triangle is, 3 1/2 cm long at the bottom, 7 1/2 cm long at the top, and 9 cm tall. Look at picture 1 for an example. After you've cut it out, then trace and cut it 4-5 more times to get 5-6 triangles. Once you obtain all 5-6 triangles, then glue them all together like the 2nd picture (I had to use 5 only). Then add rectangles at the ends for more detail like in picture 3. Now for the back. use the same strategy for the front but a little different, see picture 4. Also cover it in masking tape so that the seams are covered. 1 more thing! Use the small stick and attach cardboard at the ends to make a rod thingie, look at the 5th picture.
Paint
Now for the fun part, Paint! Use gold, silver and black to paint. If you look at my picture, you may notice i left some areas blank, that's because you can paint your own color there! I decided to go with a green color.
