How to Make String Art
String art is an easy and cheap way to make art that absolutely anyone can make! Most people already have most of the materials, and it looks really awesome! It is actually so simple to make, so here is how-
Supplies
-Wooden board
-Nails
-Hammer
-Different colored strings
-Pencil
-Stencil (optional)
Adding the Nails
Start off with a wooden board. I used stain on mine beforehand so that it would look nicer.
Next, decide what you want your design to be. A lot of designs are simple enough to freehand, but if you are planning on trying a more complicated design you can print out a stencil to trace.
Once you have your design on your board, hammer your nails in along the pencil lines. Space the nails about a half-inch apart. Make sure that you put nails on all the corners, on the edges of the board, and anywhere that the design curves or turns.
Stringing
Pick the color string that you want for a specific part of the art. For mine I wanted the center of my flower to be yellow. Tie one end of of your string to one of your nails. Start off by outlining that part of the design with the string. Then, fill in the center. You can randomly loop the string or you can create a pattern.
Once you are satisfied with the way that color looks, tie a knot and cut off the extra string.
Finishing Your Design
Repeat these same steps with the rest of your design. You can use as many colors as you want, and take your design as far as your imagination takes you!
That's It!
As a final touch, I outlined my petals in purple string to really tie everything together. And it is really that simple!
It's super easy to make, and it looks really awesome! Now you can go and show off your art!
