How to Make a Beautiful Tassel Doll

Tassels can be used for much more than just curtains. They can be used for dolls and much more. The dolls that I will teach you how to make are cheap and do not take much time to build. You can have a large amount of different looking dolls with their own looks and personalities. Some tassels are very beautiful and amazing. Some tassels have sparkles, beads, ribbons, yarn and other things that make them look unique and different than the others. You can choose the glue on the hair or to just glue on separate strands. In this instructable I will teach you how put together your tassel and to make the hair.

The only materials that you will need are:

  • A tassel
  • Hot glue and glue gun
  • Large wooden bead
  • Skin tone pipe cleaner
  • Yarn
  • Crochet hook
  • Ribbon or fabric for shawl
  • Sharpie
  • Pencil
  • Scissors

Step 1: the Face

In order to make a good face for your doll you will want to sketch one onto the large wooden bead as a guideline with pencil. You can search a good guideline on the Internet or come up with one as you go. Next you can go over the face in Sharpie but that is completely up to you. If you do use Sharpie, you will want to let the doll face dry for a couple minutes.

Step 2: Legs

Fold one of the pipe cleaners in half. Measure it from the top of the skirt to the bottom. From where you can not see it add 3 cm, and cut off the excess. Fold over a cm on each of the ends. The pipe cleaner is to be her feet. At the top fold over 2 cm. This is to be the part where we attach the legs to the tassel. Hot Glue the feet to where a large knot is underneath the dress. I pulled off the loop with the knot so I will glue it inside of the base where there is a long narrow hole up to the top.

Step 3: the Arms

Fold one of the pipe cleaners in half. Twist it together. The arms will now be thicker. Fold it in half again along the back of the tassel and glue it into place. Cut the pipe cleaner to the desired length. Don’t worry the back of the arms will be covered by the shawl.

Step 4: Shawl

Step 4: Shawl

Use a piece of fabric or ribbon to glue a shawl around the doll. You can also add sleeves by gluing pieces to the arms. On my second doll I made a shirt rather than a shawl, because the stomach and chest area was clear allowing me to see her legs that I placed up the tube.

Step 5: Hair

What Color or how long your hair is is up to you. You can crochet your hair or simply glue it on. Since I do not know how large your bead or doll is I can not give you the pattern for the crochet doll hair. If you glue on your hair you need to be easy on the glue so that it does not show through. I am going to place the hair on a piece of tape and use a small amount of glue to keep it placed that goes from the back of the head to the front and then I will glue on the piece of tape to the head.

Step 6: Head Onto Body

Using hot glue, glue the head of the doll onto the body where the neck should be.

Step 7:

Step 7: Accessories

Make your doll unique.

If it's a princess give it a crown and a cape.

Or if she isn't you can give her a basket of bread.

Give her different hair accessories too!

Be Creative!

Step 8: You Are Done!

Now that you have finished your Tassel Doll, you can give it to some one as a gift. A tassel doll dressed up for the holidays, would make a good present for Christmas.

Have fun.
