How to Make a Colorfull, Block-Glitch Poster

I previously made a vaguely similar poster to this one, this one has a newer, cleaner look, Plus a totally different glitch design. It uses a horizontal color shift and some block distortion. In the end, You end up with an almost 3d poster.

⚠⚠This is so important that I'll say it here and not in the materials section, Do NOT use white glue for this!!!, even if you spread it very thinly, it will distort and ruin the entire thing. Rather you have to use stick glue, the type that you twist the bottom to lift the stick.⚠⚠

• Cardstock Paper (Astrobrights work very well)
• Scissors
• A very sharp X-ACTO cutter with a #2 blade
• gluestick I highly recommend Elmer disappearing purple
• A ruler (the longer the better)
• The template (When printing go to settings> margins> none)
• Foam poster board

After printing out the template on some white cardstock. trace it onto your three different colored sheets of cardstock.

Try your very best to trace it very crisply and exactly to the pattern.

(Or you could just print the template 3 times onto your different colored sheets)

Start by figuring out what order you want your colors to be in. And once you know, rub the glue on the layer above the first one, and then glue the third one on top of the second.

Glue them in a staggered fashion horizontally, with a spacing of 6mm between each layer

It is almost crucial that you test slice a test piece before slicing the actual layer, I made a 4th pattern and sliced it horizontally to see how it looked, before doing it to the actual layers.

Once you tested it on a test piece, flip your stacked layer before cutting it! If you don't flip it to the back before cutting it you'll end up with horrid gaps in between the parts.

Once you get towards the jagged bottom portion, Cut it once across the wider part, do not cut the tips, it will just make it harder, if you want to do it in step 4.

Now flip it back to the front. Make sure everything is in the correct order.

If any of the strips are partially glued, or separating now is the time to apply a bit of glue in between the paper.

To glue it to the board, start from the top piece and go down from there. put one strip a bit towards the left, and the next a bit towards the right. you can just place them there (without glue) and then glue them later when you're sure that everything is correct.

Now if you want to stagger the lower portions, you can do that now.

Once you have done all the steps above and glued the layered shapes to the poster board, no you have to cut it out.

And the most important thing to remember is that there is no hurry, calmly and slowly, using a sharp cutter, cut around all of the edges.

When you get to the smaller parts, start away from the edge, with your cutting edge towards the edge of the paper. and push towards the place you need, That is why you see long cuts extending away from the actual shape, in the photo.

Once it is cut out you can pop it out, and clean it up carefully using a pair of scissors.

Now out of more poster board cut a rectangle. A straight edge is ideal for this, but you can just measure it using a ruler.

Now using the offcuts from the blue paper make some blue rectangles of different sizes. I made 4 different shapes.

Adding these does a few good things, it adds visual weight, and it follows the block glitch design.

And that is how you make a color, block glitch poster.
