How to Make a Cardboard Shoe Advanced Version!!!
So I made a different instructable documenting another cardboard shoe I made but that was just a shoe...one so that's why I made a new and improved one it is more advanced with more parts.
Supplies
- Scissors
- Precision knife
- Hot glue...and the sticks
- Ruler
- Cardboard
- Brown paper bag (if you have none you can peel the top layer of cardboard and use that instead.)
The Sole
For the sole of the shoe trace your foot on the cardboard. As you can see my drawing was rough and not at all smooth. After you have it roughed out you can refine it further, making it look more like a sneaker and less like a human foot.
Sole Sides
Cut out 2cm wide cardboard strips, and glue them around the entire thing. Notice how in the second photo there is a noticeable slant in the front border, you can cut the slant before or after gluing it on. Do the same to both shoes.
The Top
Now, we will have to use a bit of muscle for this step. We will "mold" the cardboard by using two techniques, slits, and bending. Cut out a horseshoe-like shape and curve it to a more organic rounded shape. Glue it to the top inside the shoe sole border. Next glue a piece of cardboard with holes in it to the inside. Do this to both shoes.
Heel, and Quarter
With a wide long rectangle, Cut out the shape shown in the very first photo. Once you have peeled of the inside layer of the cardboard off, It should curve nicely. Glue it to the bck of the shoe.
Using the peeled layerof the cardboard glue it inbetween the heel, and toe assembley. This will complete tyhe main side construction.
Lace and Tongue
Cut out a wavy U-shaped part, and after gluing it on the top of the shoe, poke 7 holes in either side.
Cut out a rounded rectangle and glue it under the U shape for the tongue.
The Hardest Part
No for the shoelaces, it is advisable to use real shoelaces and just lace them through the holes. But Since I had no shoelaces to spare, I did it a different way.
The harder way:
Cut out some thin strips of cardboard, and Glue them in a criss-cross manner just tucking the tip of the strip in the hole, and alternating the order in order to get the illusion of the laces lacing through continuously.
The Logo
You can now glue on any logo you want, I personally like the Adidas logo, but you can put anything want. The logo really defines the shoe and brings it together.
Thats It
And this is how you make a cardboard sneaker. It takes a bit of practice, and as a tip, I recommend practicing on a sacrificial piece before doing it to the real shoe.
