How to Make a Dotted Blaze Bar Paracord Shotgun Sling

This instructable was made to show you how to make a dotted blaze bar shotgun sling. Before you start, make sure sure that you have a clean workspace, especially your floor, so your paracord does not get dirty. Also, make sure that you have the right shotgun studs, and that your shotgun even has stud holes!

Materials

What you need are the following: Paracord: 35 feet of one color, 15 feet of another; A lighter; A pair of scissors; A vise; Shotgun studs: Make sure that they are the right studs, and make sure that your shotgun even HAS stud holes!!!

Tying to the Stud and Starting

This step might get kind of confusing, but its the only way that I could explain it. First things first, to start off, put one stud and loop in the vise, with the loop side out. Run the short cord through the loop and match the ends up. Then, take the long cord and run it behind the short cord, but do not run it through the stud. Match up the two ends and then cross them over, or swap sides with them, and match the ends up again. Now, take the short cord by the ends and go up above where you crossed the long cords. Now, drop the long cords in the middle of the loop. go in between the short cords before the loop with the cord you are using now. Tighten

Starting the Knot

To start the knot, get the right long cord, and go over the right short cord and under the left short cord. Put this cord in front of the left long cord. Get the left long cord. Go over the left short cord, and under the right short cord. Put this cord through the back of the loop created by the right long cord. Tighten.

Continuing

Grab the left long cord, and take it under the left short cord and over the right short cord. Put this cord behind the right long cord. Grab the right long cord, take it under the right short cord and over the left short cord. Take it through the loop created by the left long cord. Tighten. Keep alternating these steps until you have about 2 feet of long cord left.

Finishing the Tie

To finish the tie, take the right long cord, and take it over both short cords. Then, take the left long cord, put it in front of the long right cord, then take it behind both short cords and run it through the back of the loop made by the right long cord. Then, do the same thing, only start with the left long cord this time:) Be creative when you go to attach the paracord to the other loop, just be sure that it is secure, make sure it won't come undone the first time you use it!

Attaching the Studs to the Shotgun

I would recommend Blackhawk shotgun studs, mainly because they are easy to install. Ok, most shotguns should have a pre-drilled hole for the short stud in the metal section of the gun. You will have to drill a hole for the other stud in the stock. Using a 5/16 drill bit, drill a hole 1 inch deep in the stock, about 6 inches from the end of the gun. Then, screw both studs into the stud holes. Remember, short in the metal, long in the wood:) You may have to use a screwdriver to get the studs tight in their holes.

Attaching the Loop to the Stud

Unscrew the bolt on the side of each loop. Push in on the bolt and the pin should come undone. put the pin through the stud,put the pin back in the loop, and tighten the bolt. Do the same with the other stud and loop:)
