How to Make a Fork and Spoon Appear to Levitate

Ok, I'll admit, this is sort of an elementary magic trick, however it will take some practice getting the silverware to balance.

Materials

You will need:
1 ROUND* Toothpick
1 Metal** Fork
1 Metal** Spoon
1 Glass*** Cup

*Has to be round because a square toothpick is too easy to balance with
**These have to be metal because it is heavier than plastic
***As with silverware this only works with heavier materials

Performing the "Illusion"

First, use the tongs of the fork to connect it with the spoon. Put the toothpick on your finger and stick it through the tongs of the fork. This is so you can find the center of gravity. Then very slowly and carefully move your finger and balance it on the edge of the glass. Now bow and say some magic words to spice it up and you're done!

How It Works

Way simpler than it really is. This only works because our eyes are tricking ourselves into thinking that it's only balancing on the edge of the cup, not the entire cup.
