How to Make a Home Made Balance Scale and Graduated Cylinder

Hello, I am Max, I made a homemade balance scale and a graduated cylinder for a science project. I love doing craft mostly with my dad It is so fun and you learn a lot. The supplies that you need for the graduated cylinder are pretty simple. You need a bottle I only went up to 350 ml. so smaller is better but make sure it is at last 400 ml. next you need scotch tape, a marker, a measuring cup that can fill to 50 ML., and a pieces of paper that's height is 12 cm and with is 4 cm.The balance scale supplies you need are a maker, scissors, 2 cup that are the same size, a hanger, string, and a drill.

The balance scale supplies you need are, a maker that should be a sharpie, scissors, 2 cup that are the same size if so try and find two that show on the picture, a hanger, string make sure the string is strong, and a drill you do no need it but that would be better than scissors and make sure if you are using drill that the hole that you make is a little bit better than the string.

The first step is drawing 4 dots for both cups like the picture that moves on to the next step which is drilling or making a hole with scissors ware you put the dots now step 3 make sure your strings are even and long enough then thread the string through the holes you made like one of the pictures now ether drill hole like I did o hang the string in the groves that is all the steps for making the balance scale.

Testing anything before you use it is important because you need to make sure it works and if it you will have to fix it before it is right so I am testing my balance scale by getting 6 thumb tack and each are 1 gram and and a table spoon of salt is 6 grams so if I put 6 thumb tack the balance scale should be even and mine was equal and if your is not then try and find what wrong and fix it.

The graduated cylinder Is much easier then the balance scale here are the supplies you need for it are scotch tape, a bottle I recommend the little Voss bottles, then a maker, and a piece of paper that is 12 cm tall and 4 cm wide. Those are the Supplies for the Graduated Cylinder.

step 1 is cutting the paper 12 cm tall and 4 cm wide step 2 tape the paper on to the bottle, but make sure you tape it on to the BACK! ware you are not going to wright. then get a measuring cup and make sure it's lowest point is 50 ml. the pore 50 ml. in to the bottle then mark ware the water line was and and keep repeating till 350 ml. step 3 tape over the paper with scotch tape and then you are done.

Here is how you can test if the graduated cylinder. Find 2 objects that are different size then fill up the cup to 300 ml. and test, drop the two objects in and see if there is a difference.

density is how much is in a material and how it is determined is how you test the Graduated Cylinder and if you are comparing things when you drop it in to the water whatever ones water rose the most has the mos density
