How to Make a Hot Dog Pen

Steamed Hot Dog Pen

This is a pen I made using a hot dog for the No Lathe Pen Challenge from One Car Workshop: ( http://onecarworkshop.com/2017/01/20/win-a-lathe-the-no-lathe-pen-challenge/ )

It’s silly, but I thought you might enjoy it.

Tools:

  • Steamer
  • Stove
  • Plate
  • Fork
  • Ball-point pen

Materials:

  • Hot dogs
  • Hot dog buns
  • Water
  • Onion
  • Ketchup
  • Relish

Boil Water

Load the boiler pot with water and get it boiling. Disassemble the pen to remove the body.

Cook Hot Dog and Bun

Put the hot dog in the boiling water. Add the steamer basket and put the bun in. Close the lid.

TIP: Cook more than one hot dog. This will make you hungry and pens don’t taste good.

Wait 3 minutes. While you’re waiting…

Chop Onions

Observe the magic onion-chopping trick!

If you don’t know magic, use a knife.

Serve

Remove the bun and split it with the fork. Put the hot dog in the bun. Add onions, ketchup & relish.

Insert the pen into the hot dog from one end. If you can’t get it started, pierce the end with a fork first.

Write / Eat

You’re done!

If you made two hot dogs, eat the other one. Congratulations on a job well done.
