How to Make a Light for Your Furry Friends So They Are Safe in the Dark With a Circuit Playground Express
You must have clicked this link, wishing that our furry friends can walk long nights with us and accompany us. Now, they can join us in the night with the help of the Circuit Playground Express and the harness!
Supplies
You will need:
1 harness (anything that your pet wears that goes around their body)
about 30cm square of fabric
one Circuit Playground Express
one battery pack loaded with 3 AAA batteries
Begin Sewing Your Baggie for the Circuit Playground Express Together
To begin with the instructable and your amazing project, you have to first understand what you are making exactly. Before having the correct fabrics and measurements, ensure everything is correct by first just measuring out with an A4 size paper in your desired location where you want the baggie and light to be. For me, I decided the best spot is on the back of my dog where you can see the light well.
Then, cut out the A4 size of paper to use as a stencil for your fabric. Cut out according to stencil and then sew together using a blanket stitch. If confused about blanket stitches, use this video that helped me to understand. It's okay to be confused, I messed up many times before I got it to be perfect. :)
Write in the Code Into the CPX
The Circuit Playground Express is a very easy circuit board to program and I used a very basic programming website called MakeCode.com to create the code. Any other preferred coding platform (eg. Python) is completely okay too. Now, to create this simple code, I created a blinky light that would rest and then turn on, seemingly blinking. Then, whenever the device was shaken, it would make a feint siren sound which can attract people nearby and notify them of the dog.
Get Everything Together and Go Have a Photoshoot!
Once these two simple things are done, the only remaining thing to do is just sew or attach the bag to the desired location, put in the turned-on CPX with a battery pack, and have a safe night walk with your furry friends!
