How to Make a Lipless Crankbait

I will be making a fishing lure. I love to fish, as It is one of my passions. With summer rolling around I thought I would show you what it is like to make your own fishing lure.

• 1' 2x 4" wood plank
• Pencil
• Saw
• Sandpaper
• 3 15/16" eye screws
• acrylic paint
• C clamp
• drill
• assortment of drill bits
• paint brush
• 2 treble hooks

*Note* I do not have a saw in the picture due to the fact it is a table saw.

Sketch out the shape of a lipless crankbait onto a 1' 2" x 4"

Cut the wood down to the rough shape of the bait

Sand the 2" side of the bait down to 1 3/8" and continue to sand down to the more precise shape of the bait

Mark on your bait where you are going to drill the eye screws into the wood. I chose at the back for a hook, at the top front for the line and at the bottom middle for another hook.

Make some guide holes in the wood with a 5/64" drill bit where you are going to drill. From there you will take 3/32" and make the holes bigger and than you will insert the eye screws into the holes you have made and secure them.

Take some sort of paint and paint your design to whatever you would like.

Attach hooks to the back and bottom of the bait and go catch some fish.
