Nothing says DIY like a personalized letter decoration. As college students, we do not have as much money as we did before moving away to start our new lives. There is no need to feel like a present can’t be given during our college time. With that being said, this inexpensive DIY is the perfect gift for a close friend or relative for any type of occasion. This guide lets anyone know of all the supplies that will be needed to make this personalized gift.

To start off our DIY, head to the nearest craft store for the wooden letter, paint, brushes, and mod podge. Any can be found at a different store, I just found it easier to find at a craft store as well as its less of a trip. For the pictures needed, I printed mine at Walgreens for an inexpensive price. The wooden letter can be of any size chosen. The one I will be using is 18 inches tall. The bigger the letter the more pictures will be needed. For the letter I got, I used pictures of wallet size and pictures of 4x4 inches.

Painting the Letter and Placing the Pictures

First to start off, paint the letter pink on all sides and edges. Then I let the wooden letter completely dry, which did not take long. Then, lay out the pictures as wanted on the wooden letter. When the pictures are place as wanted, I found it easiest to take a picture just to make sure they are in the order wanted. After taking a picture of the final lay out, I carefully removed each picture while still keeping them in order as best as possible. I preferred to put my pictures straight up and overlapped a couple of them to fit as many as I could, while still being able to see them all.

To continue this project, grab the first picture that is

wanting to be placed and place glue on the back of the picture as well as on the section where the picture is going to be placed. I found it easiest to go picture by picture as well as overlapping while gluing the picture down if needed. When placing the pictures, try to cover the letter as best as possible so no pink is peeking through. After pictures have been placed, let the glue completely dry. Once the glue is dry, turn the letter around and cut the pictures along the edge of the letter to make the pictures match the outline of the letter.

Final Touches

After cutting the pictures to match the outline and edge

of the letter, our next step is placing the mod podge. Place an even layer of mod podge over the pictures and on all edges of the letter. Once dry, place another layer of mod podge to really seal the whole project together. When the second layer of mod podge is dry, the project is done! This project is very thoughtful and can be given to anyone. As well as its super easy and fun to do with friends as well! Thanks for following my instructions for this project.
