How to Make a Planter With Plastic Bottles
I made a pot using a plastic water bottle as material. The reason behind this project was to address the problem of people throwing their water bottles or leaving them on the ground. Before we started, I brainstormed how I could reuse objects, and I was lucky enough to have an empty water bottle by my side at that time.
I decided to turn the water bottle into a pot, thinking how wonderful it would be to reuse it this way. However, during this project, some limitations may arise, such as not having flowers available or not having the right tools needed.
I conducted a brief investigation and found that in the United States about 35 billion empty water bottles are disposed of annually, and only 12% of them are recycled. Given this information, even if it is a small change, why not take the opportunity to turn them into pots?
Supplies
Materials
- Plastic bottles
- Silicone
- Scissors
- Acrylic paint
- recycled CDs
- Brush
Cut the Bottles
With scissors or a scalpel, cut the bottle in half, shaping the edge. If you like variety, you can make different cuts so you will have several models of pots that will make your outdoor garden design stand out more.
Paste the Cd
After you have the bottles cut out, take the CD and glue it to the top of the bottle using hot glue. After sticking it, apply pressure and leave your recycling crafts on a flat surface.
