Hi my name is Kendall, and I am a proud member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. It's the Season for Big Little reveal and initiation for all the sororities on campus and that means the Big's need to get crafty and make/buy a ton of great things for there Little's. A No-Sew blanket is always a good option as a gift that everyone can use, but this blanket has a twist! Instead of tying off the ends like a normal tie blanket you braid the edges together!

If you are worried about experience don't worry you will not need much experience to do this project!

Let me know how your blankets turn out! I hope you enjoy my tutorial!

Supplies

    • Purchase 2 sheets of different Patterns/Colors of Fleece Fabric (you can purchase the two different fabrics from Joann Fabric)

Lay the two pieces of fleece on top of each other. Make sure to lay the fabric you would like to see in the blanket facing you.

Cut the Fabric

After laying out the fabric make sure to trim off any ends if necessary to make the sheets of fabric the same exact size.

Cut Out the Four Corners

Measure out three inches with your ruler. Then cut out a square exactly 3 inches from each of the corners. (Like the photos above)

Cut the Fringe Pieces

Next you will cut out the fringe for the blanket, make sure to do a straight cut 3 inches into the fabric. Make sure the fringe has been cut on all sides of the blanket before going to the next step.

Cut the Fringe Slits

Take one piece of fringe and fold it in half, the cut a small slit in the middle if the fringe (Like the picture above)

Continue with this process along all the sides of the blanket.

Braiding the Fringe

Start with the fringe piece that is closest to the corner and put it through the fringe piece on the right, pull it through and then that becomes the next hole that you use. (beloq is a link to a video if it get's confusing, as well as a photo of what the braiding should look like around the edges!)

Once you get to the end:

Separate the two layers of the last fringe piece, put one of the layers through the starting hole, finish with using the two layers to tie a knot and tucking that knot into the inside of the blanket. (the photo above shows the end knot being tied)

Completed Blanket

Then your done! Now you have a beautiful new blanket to give as a gift!
