Introduction: The purpose of these instructions is to teach an easy way to make a sock animal. Once you are finished you can gift is to a child, or even show them how to make a sock animal for a fun crafting project.

Get Materials

  • Socks
  • Poly-fil (you can use stuffing from an old pillow or cotton balls)
  • Tiny Rubber Bands
  • Scissors
  • A Hot Glue Gun or Makers (for decorating)
  • Other Decorative Items

Grab a Sock

Flatten a sock so that the heel part of the sock is facing up, and the open end of the sock is at the top.

Make the Legs

Roll a wad of poly-fil (or cotton balls) into a ball about one inch in diameter and out it inside of the sock at the very bottom right-hand side. Use your finger to press the ball from the inside of the sock tight against the side of the sock, the grab the ball from the outside of the sock and wrap a rubber band around the ball to form a foot. DO the same thing on the other side.

Make the Arms

Roll up two more wads of poly-fil and stick them about two finger lengths down from the heel to form arms just like you did with the feet.

Stuff Your Bunny

IMG_1844.jpg

Fill the sock with poly-fil all the way up to where your heel would go. If you want a bigger bunny add more poly-fil.

Secure the Stuffing

Place a rubber band right above the arms to form a neck, and one at the top where your poly-fil ends to close it making a head.

Cut

Cut off half of the cuff of the sock (less if you want bigger bunny ears) by cutting horizontally with the bunny standing up. The cut the remaining part vertically down the middle.

Form the Ears

Spread out both halves of the cuffs, take the left cuff and cut from the top point on the left down to where the rubber band is, making a curved ear. Repeat on the right side.

Decorate!!

Decorate Your Bunny! Color in the ears by going in about 2 centimeters in from the outside diameter and filling in the open white space. Use a glue gun or maker to add the eyes, nose and mouth.

You're Finished

Now you have a stuffed bunny, you can add more to it if you want. You can even make clothes out of the scraps that you cut off. Be creative.
