How to Make a Tasty Omelette

An omelette is so tasty yet so easy to make and there are sooo many options about what to use as filling.

Oh, and if you're living in a home where everyone is allocated just one egg per person as part of their lunch, then the smart money is on those entrepreneurs that combine their eggs to make an omelette! One-egg omelette is possible, but 3 or more eggs is better :-)

Right, let's get on with it. To the kitchen!

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • tablespoon of butter
  • filling of your choice (we've used a combination of mushroom, carots, onion that were left over from a meal)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • peanut oil to fry with

Whisk Your Eggs...

...and add your filling and salt and pepper.

Oh, and you'll find it much easier to use a whisk that has a handle. Our whisk does not have a handle (I'd like to say it is an expensive European handle-less design, but sadly the handle simply fell off).

Peanut Oil and Butter Go in the Pan

...but not peanut butter! That's a whole different meal!

Let the butter melt and mingle with the oil, carefully swirling around to evenly coat the fry pan.

Right, listen up you college students that say you can't cook, the following is for you:

DUMP THE ENTIRE MIX INTO THE FRY PAN.

It's not hard to cook this omelette so have a go - you may even be able to pull this off and present as a Mothers Day surprise (to your Mother, not yourself!).

It's Done and Smells Delicious

Cook the omelette on one side, then flip it to the other.

An ideal omelette will have a soft center, so don't over cook it.

A variation is to add cheese to this omelette.

Pro tip: Instead of flipping the entire omelette, try flipping just one half over and on to the other half (you'll now have a half moon omelette). This will ensure the center remains soft and delicious.
