Oven Preheat

The first thing you should do is preheat the oven. This is so that as soon as you are done making your cake batter you can put it straight into the oven

Mesuring

Image (3).jpeg

Gather all the tools you will need to bake this cake ( measuring spoons/cups, mixing spoon, baking tray).

Dry Ingredients

Image (4).jpeg

In a large bowl combine the flour, baking powder, and salt, give the dry ingredients a little stir then set the bowl aside.

Wet Ingredients

In another large bowl beat the eggs, sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer for 10 minutes or until the batter gets thick. it should also turn into a pale color and should be triple the volume while you are beating the batter, then drizzle in oil.

Mixing

Image (2).jpeg

At a low speed, add the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until it is perfectly smooth (there should be no dry clumps). Divide the batter into 2 pans so your cake is evenly cooked when its done.

Baking

Place your cake batter in the oven and bake for 50-55 five minutes. To make sure its cooked grab a tooth pick, insert it into the middle of the cake, if there is no raw batter stuck to the toothpick then you can take the cake out.

Cooling

Image (8).jpeg

Let it cool for about 25 minutes, after 25 minutes you can take the cake out of the pan and place it on a large piece of cardboard (to be easily transportable).

Making the Icing

Image (6).jpeg

While waiting for your cake to cool you can make your icing, mix your butter, icing sugar, vanilla, and milk. Beat with a hand mixer until smooth and icing like. Separate your icing into as many different colors as you want and use food dye to make them different colors (we did pink, and white).

Shaping the Cakes

Image (1).jpeg

Your going to need to cut your cakes into different shapes for the robot.

  • 1 square (10cm x 10cm) for the head
  • 1 smaller rectangle (3cm x 6cm) for the neck
  • 1 large rectangle (20cm x 17cm) for the body
  • 2 long rectangles (14cm x 4cm) for the legs
  • 2 rectangles (11cm x 3cm) for the arms with cut slant where it touches the body
  • 3 small half circles for the head details

Icing the Cakes

Now that everything is prepared you can start decorating!
