How to Make a Water Bottle Filter
Ran out of fresh water to drink? With a handy water bottle and your surroundings, you can make filtered water.
The materials inside the water bottle clean out the water and help purify it. It's quick and shows results clearly.
**Should be boiled after filtering to drink**
Supplies
- Empty water bottle
- Scissors/sharp object
- Sand
- Pebbles/small rocks
- Cotton balls
- Dirty water
- Towel/Newspaper
- Ruler(optional)
- Marker(optional)
- Tape
Cutting the Water Bottle
Cut the water bottle a little bit more than half way. (Around 5 inches) This is going to be the bigger part. The top part should be around 3 inches. This is going to be the smaller part. You can use a ruler to measure this and a marker to make a tick mark.
Putting the Bottles Together
Put the big part of the water bottle on the bottom, flat, facing upwards. Put the other part of the water bottle with the mouth part facing downwards, into the big part of the water bottle. Tape these parts together for stability.
Putting in the Materials
With the now conjoined pieces of water bottle, put cotton where the mouth part is of the small bottle. Then put sand, pebbles, in order on top of the cotton.
Filtering the Water
Pour dirty water into the top of the bottle and wait. Add more dirty water for faster results.
