How to Make the Paper Airplane Spirit Dragon By: Mark Lights

IMG_0281.jpg

The spirit dragon paper airplane is constructed for trajectory and longevity when thrown. The wings and flaps are similar to a real plane. Adjusting the flaps lets you control if the plane goes up or down when thrown.

Materials :

8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper or printer paper

IMG_0262.jpg

Fold the paper in half right down the middle.

IMG_0263.jpg

Results from step 1 should look like the picture. Make sure the crease is as crisp as possible.

IMG_0264.jpg

Fold the left corner to the right side of the paper.

IMG_0265.jpg

Unfold the other side. Then Fold the right corner to the left side of the paper.

IMG_0266.jpg

Flip the paper over and should should see the creases all come to one point.

IMG_0267.jpg

Fold the paper top to bottom 3 1/2 the way down till you get to where the creases stop. then flip the paper over.

IMG_0268.jpg

Grab the two top corners of the paper and fold them towards each other. That should make a triangle at the top of the paper.

IMG_0269.jpg

Flip the top right part of the triangle over to the left side. Fold the bottom part of the right side of the triangle to the middle crease. Do the same for the other side.

IMG_0270.jpg

If you successfully did step 8 correctly, this what your airplane looks like.

IMG_0271.jpg

Flip the top right side of the triangle to the left side again. Approximate one inch from the top of the triangle then fold the rest over to the right. Do the same for the left side.

IMG_0272.jpg

Fold the top right triangle to the center of the plane and the same for the left side.

IMG_0273.jpg

Fold the bottom part of the top right and left triangle in the middle of the plane. Keep tucking it in until you can't no more.

IMG_0274.jpg

The end result of step 12 should look like the picture.

IMG_0275.jpg

Fold the paper airplane in and it should start to look like a plane now. Fold the top wing over to make a crease for the wing.

IMG_0276.jpg

This should be the outcome if you did step 14 correctly. Now do the same for the other side of the plane.

IMG_0281.jpg

Your plane should look like this now. Just hold the bottom of the plane and throw it. adjust the flaps at the back of the plane for aerodynamics.

Conclusion

You have made the plane correctly. Throw it and see how it goes. If it goes downward adjust the flaps slightly upward and vice versa.
