How to Play: Multiplayer Tetris

Multiplayer Tetris is quite different from regular single player Tetris.

The key difference is that in single player Tetris, your objective is to survive for as long as you can. However, in multiplayer Tetris, your objective is to beat the opponent.

To beat your opponent, you need to send garbage. Garbage is sent whenever you do moves or combos.

The game I will be using to demonstrate: Puyo Puyo Tetris

Double T Spin

Double T Spin

Double T spin is the most commonly used technique to deny garbage and send garbage.

The video shows a double T spin start, but T spin should be the main form of offense and defense.

Full Clear Start

Full Clear Start

Start is important. The start can often set the flow of the round, and create an advantage.

Full clears are very good, but are not guaranteed to work every time.

To do a simple full clear start, create a 4 x 4 on either sides, using I, J, L, and O pieces. Create the structure on the right in the video using Z, S, and T pieces. Then, looking at the pieces you have coming up, try to do a full clear. This will require practice to get it somewhat consistently.

Triple T Spin

Triple T Spin

You would not regularly use triple T spin in a game, but it is very strong.

Triple T spin is named that way because a T spin clears 3 lines.

Double T spin is named that way because a T spin clears 2 lines.

Other Spins

S Spin

You can spin with other pieces in Tetris. Typically, you would only see T spins and S/Z spins.

In the video, I set up an S spin, but Z spin works the same way.
