Step 1:
The first and most important step is to keep your feet shoulder width apart and your toes facing the basket with one foot farther in front than the other, this will provide balance when shooting and will also help in shooting the ball straight to the basket.
Step 3:
Make sure the ball is balanced on your fingertips instead of resting on the palm. A good way to make sure you’re doing this right is if you can see through the space between the hand and ball.
Step 3:
Keep your elbow in. Try to keep it perpendicular to the floor and also rest your left (or right) hand on the ball as a guide hand.
Step 4:
Make sure to keep your eyes up to the basket, a good spot to look is the opposite side of the rim from where you’re shooting.
Step 5:
After shooting, make sure you follow through the shot keeping your arms above eye level and towards the basket.
Finished!
These are 5 easy steps on how to improve your shot and for beginners, how to shoot a basketball. If you follow these rules on every shot you take, your shooting percentage will go up and who knows, maybe you'll be on the court with some of the NBAs biggest starts someday!
