How to Study Effectively
Every student gets stressed about tests because they want to do well in order to get a good grade in their class. This guide will make sure that you ace your next test/quiz!
Look Ahead
Look in your planner and see when your next test/quiz is that you want to study for. Try to start studying for it at least a few days in advance, instead of the night before.
Put Your Phone Away
In order to focus better, and give your best effort, make sure that your phone is on silent and in a different room.
Gather Your Supplies
For your supplies, you will need to get out your notes, notecards, and something to write with.
Make a Check List
Either in your planner, or on a separate sheet of paper, make a checklist of all your goals that you want to accomplish during your study session.
Pick a Spot
Studies show that picking a specific spot to repeatedly study in will help to increase your grade. Try to pick a designated spot and study there every time you can.
Set a Timer
It is better to study in short sessions instead of hours at a time. To do this, set a 30 minute timer, then take a break and then study again for 30 more minutes.
Make a Quiz
One great way to study is to make your own practice tests. Make a practice quiz or two over important information and make questions that you think you might see on the test.
Transfer Notes
Pick out the most important information from your notes and make note cards to help you remember.
Make Connections
Look at your notes, and try to make connections. You can either make connections between your notes or make connections between your notes and something else.
Quiz Yourself
Go back and take your practice quizzes you made and have someone else quiz you with your flashcards. Make sure you sleep well the night before and go rock your test!
