How to Tie a Proper Fishing Knot

Introduction:

Fishing is one of the most well-known pastime hobbies in America. The thrill of feeling a fish biting the bait on your hook is a blast of thrilling emotions. When the fish tugs on your bait and runs off with it, it is necessary to have a tight and secured knot to ensure the hook will not break off of your line. Following this instruction set, you will have a strong knot, ensuring that the fish will be in your hands and not the water.

Warning:

Fishing hooks are extremely sharp. Avoid contact with skin and use with caution.

Materials:

• 1x Fishing Line (regular or braided)
• 1x Fishing Hook (type of hook varies on the type of fish you are trying to catch)
• 1x Scissors or Nail Clippers

• Hold the sharp end of the fishing hook towards you.
• Insert the line through the hole on the top of the hook.
• Weave roughly 1 foot of line through the hole.

• Grab the line (A) Fig. 2 and loop it under and over the line (B) Fig. 2.
• Repeat 4 to 6 times.
  1. Note: Leave a small gap at the bottom while making the first loop.
• Upon completion, your progress should look identical to Fig. 3.

• Take the end of the line (A) Fig. 4 and feed it through the hole (B) Fig. 4.
• Once the line (A) Fig. 4 is through the hole, pull tightly on the line (A) Fig. 4

• Pull the line (A) Fig. 5 in the opposite direction from the line (B) Fig. 5 in order to tighten the knot.

• Cut off the excess of the knotted line.
  1. Tip: Leave approximately 1 inch of excess line upon cutting. This will ensure the knot will not unravel once the fish bites.
