How to Use Airbrush to Do Spray Paint Art Style
We work on poster board using a quick change airbrush.
You can also do this painting on any prepared surface. Gesso and sealer will work on wood, canvas etc.
Spray white, then black where you want your planet to be.
Crinkle the newspaper and brush it over to make a texture.
Add white spray on top of your texture and repeat as many times as desired.
When you like your pattern, put a little white on top and black on the bottom. Cover it with a plate.
Tip It's good to put a little duct tape handle on the plate to make it easy to remove. Also make sure the plate is heavy enough that the air won't blow it around.
Once the plate is placed on the planet, spray the sky. I add white along the mid part of the plnaet and put black on the top and underneath the planet. The black under the planet will also be used to make ocean.
Spray some white paint on something you can shake (like a palette knife or a piece of poster board) and shake it on the sky part of the painting to make stars. Shake hard so that the stars are small.
Use a piece of straight poster board to cover up the top part of the painting and spray a little white paint where you want your ocean to be. Brush your finger back and forth to mix the white paint with the black and make the ocean.
Use a small round brush and black paint to paint in some palm trees on either side of the planet if you want! You can add a little land and grass underneath the palm trees if desired.
