How to Write a Horror Story

The first thing you have to do before you start writing is Brainstorm: make a list of scary things that scares you and all the others. Try to think about something that you are scare from when you go to sleep. Things that you definitely don't want to see under your bed.

One of the most important things you have to have in a horror story is the setting. In most of the stories the settings are mystery and dark, old castles or little houses. Also cemetery or woods are scary. They are scary and old. You can decide if you want only one setting where the whole story is tell or a few places. Here a tip: it is more scary if there is just one place in your story because you can make things up. Things that happened in the past. For example a person despaired and appeared again or a murderer who lives in that house. So just make something up that scares you.

All horror stories have got a protagonist and a setting. In most horror stories the past of the protagonist or the setting affects how they act in the horror story. Even the past of the whole story affects how the whole story goes. So write something about the past of this two things and mention this in your story so people know what really happened.

It's time to detail everything. You need details. Write details about the characters, setting, minor characters etc. The main question you have to ask yourselves is : who does what??

Once you have got all details, you are almost ready to start writing your story. Yeah!!!!!

Her are some things that are very important to have in:

- in horror stories the protagonists mostly are loners. But WHY? Often the protagonists are loners because the are alone and haven't got any family. It makes the horror moro scary because the protagonists hasn't got a family so if anything happens to him , he haven't got someone that could protect him.

Write out the steps you want to happen in your story. You can use your notes. They will help you reminding everything.

You are starting to creat your story so the first thing you must have is a first sentence. Make a few start sentences up and later chose one of them. Nothing is better than an exciting and shocking first sentences.

An exposition is very important. The whole story kind of depend on the exposition. There are two types of exposition: the starting introduction that start from the beginning or the exposition that starts from the end what means that you tell the audience the end and go backwards. You first mention the end and than tell them how all of this has happened. That makes the story a lot more interesting because the people want to know why this happened and how.

Take a pen and enough paper and just write, write and write. Add enough details and extra description that you think are necessary. Remember to included everything that you wrote before. All this things will help you. BUT be carefully. Don't use TOO MUCH mystery. The reader still has to know what's happening in the whole story.

While you write keep in mind that all the characters have to participate in the story. Do not lose them or forget them.

After you have finish your story, go over it and look for things you can make better. When you are finish you can tip your story on the computer and voila, your story is finish.
