How to Build a Spark Genarator

This is my first instructable so please no nasty comments.

hot glue gun                                     barrel from barbecue lighter
electrical tape                                  piece of wire about 6in.
scissors                                            foamboard square 6x6in(cardboard works ok if it is thick
pen                                                     Piezo electric igniter(also from lighter)
pliers                                                 top load (a piece of metal like mine with a magnet)
X-acto knife                                                                         

 

First you take your foamboard square and the lighter barrel and trace around the barrel.After that you must cut it out.

Now you take the barrel and wrap the barrel in the electrical tape leaving only a spirely bare spot.Next you tape that 6in. piece of wire to the barrel and tape over that.

The next thing to do now is hot glue the barrel to the base.(you might also want to tape over the hot glue)
                       WARNING: the tip of the hot glue gun gets VERY hot!!!

Now it is time to add the igniter. First you take the SHORT wire from the igniter and splice it to the wire on the barrel. Then tape the igniter down.Next tape the LONG wire to the barrel so that there is about 2in. sticking out of the tape.

Now it's simple to just put the top load on with the magnet(If you do not have a magnet hot glue works to Just remember to make sure the top load has a good connection to the barrel)

WARNING: it hurts a little to get zapped.
