How to Grow Seedlings

I choose to grow my own seedlings because it is a lot cheaper than having to buy pre-potted plants from a store. A pack of about 100 seeds from Home Depot costs 67 cents, and there was a "bo-go"* deal. Not to mention the unmatched feeling of accomplishment that comes from growing your food from scratch.

I went to Home Depot and bought these materials.

-Jiffy grow mini greenhouses

-Seeds

These are pretty easy to find, unless you plan on buying seeds which are illegal... Then you should probably just call your local DEA agent and ask for them.

To prepare the soil pods I got, all I had to do was add water until they expanded fully, peel back the netting covering each pod, and push a few seeds into the dirt. I ended up growing only vegetables in two trays. This is a very slow process but it is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. These steps may vary based on the brand you get, but all brands have roughly the same instructions.

Once you have planted all of your seeds, label the rows and place the clear top back on. Make sure the top is sealed on well, because it needs to keep the moisture in.

Once you have completed these steps, all you have to do is leave the seeds in a partially sunny, and warm indoor area. Water only if the pods turn light brown. Once you get a sprout, remove the top and water regularly. When it comes time to transplant, dig a hole slightly deeper than the height of the pod, and bury it. I will update this post occasionally as to show how my plants are doing, as long as I don't die from being eaten by crows or getting stepped on by a giant chicken or something. You get the point.
