How to Jailbreak an IPod Touch

This instructable will show you how to jailbreak your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch using Spirit.

What's Spirit?

-When you jailbreak using Spirit it downloads Cydia (If you don't know what Cydia is go here)

-Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on certain firmware versions.

-Spirit is not a carrier unlock.

-If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgrade if you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2 if you have SHSH blobs for that version.)

-If you mistakenly ran Spirit despite using a tethered jailbreak, try these instructions.

What you need

-Any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2.

-A computer that runs Windows, Mac OS, or Lunix

-A iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch cord

Requirements

-Your devise must be activated: one not stuck on the Connect to iTunes or Emergency Call screen.

-iTunes 9 must be any version earlier than 9.2

-Your computer must be connected to the internet

-Syncing with iTunes before trying this is highly recommended.

First you need to go to SpiritJB.com

Then you scroll down to the the part where it has Windows, Mac OS and Lunix in big blue letters. Whichever firmware your computer uses click on that one. For me I have a Mac so I would click on Mac OS.

After you click on it, it should start downloading. After it does download open the program called Spirit.
Plug in your iPod/iPhone/iPad but don't click the jailbreak button yet. Wait for iTunes to open. When it does close out of it but don't eject your iPod/iPhone/iPad. If you are using a mac you also have to quit out of iTunes. Now you can click the jailbreak button.

Once Spirit is done doing its thing eject your ipod and Cydia should be installed. Open Cydia and it will give you instructions from their.
