How to Make Chinese Smashed Bean Rice Balls

Rice ball is a famous dessert in China. It is round and cute, healthy and delicious, and also easy to make.

What you need is:
1. Glutinous Rice Flour 200ml
2. Kidney beans that have been soaked in water overnight.
3. sugar(which is not in this photo..)

Cook the beans for around 20-30 minutes, or until they are totally soft.

Take out the beans and leave them till they are cool. Don't throw out the water though.

Take out your blender. If you don't have one, wear a plastic glove or in my case, a plastic bag.

Smash the beans.

When the beans are well smashed, add sugar and mix them together.
The amount of sugar depends on your taste. But I suggest that it should taste a little more sweetened than you would like.

After mixing with sugar, the filling part is done.
Now let's work on the outside part.
Take out 200ml rice flour and 80ml water you cooked the beans with. This allows you both to save water and to tinge the rice balls with a lovely light red color.

Add the water 20ml by a time, and mix it with the flour.

Knead untill the dough is no longer sticky. This might take you a few minutes, but you are getting there!

Take a small portion of the dough, and knead it to a ball shape.

Flatten the ball into a oval shape.

Put some smashed bean onto it.

Hold the edges together and turn it into kind of a triange shape.

Knead it into a ball shape again, and you are done:)
