1 digital camera or camcorder

2 spools of wire (1 thin/1 thick)

tool to cut wire

at least 2 blocks of clay

1 spool of tape

Making the Skeleton

to make a claymation, you need a character, and since this will teach you only how to make a basic one, I will show you how to make a basic clay figure.

To begin with, take the spools of thread and the cutting tool. You will have to make four limbs, one torso, and one neck. To make a limb, take about a foot long piece of thin wire, fold it a few times until you get it to a short enough length. The torso is made in basically the same way but with thick wire and you should bend it when folding it so that there are loops on each end. these loops will provide a way to connect the limbs. The last part, the neck is basically the limb, but about half the size.

Adding the Muscle Mass

After making the skeleton take one of the colors of clay, rub it into five separate circles (one for each limb, and one for the torso). Flatten each one and wrap it around a limb or torso. This ensures that the metal bones are in the center of the muscles. This means that when you move the figure, the bones won't rip out the skin.

Making and Attaching the Head

to make a head just form a ball of clay and firmly push it onto the metal neck.

Shooting the Animation

Set up your camera on a table with tape if you have no tripod. then put your figure in place. After setting it up all you have to do is take a picture, move the figure a little, and repeat a thousand times.

Put It Together

Upload the pictures onto your computer, and use a stopmotion software to edit them
