How to Make a Calzone

1.jpg
This is my first Instructable, and it's on what I love most: food!

The first calzone I've ever had was a P'Zone from Pizza Hut, and I've loved them ever since. I got tired of wasting $7 every time I wanted a calzone though, so I tried making my own! (I'm pretty pleased with my results, too.)

Some of you may say this isn't a true calzone. I am aware of this. I couldn't think of anything better to call it though!

Enjoy!
(Also, don't mind the pictures. I took them with my cell phone.)

Ingredients

You will need:

  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Sliced pepperoni
  • Pizza sauce
  • Pizza dough (Can be in a can or a bag, doesn't matter.)

Optional:

  • One egg/egg whites
  • Parmesan cheese
  • A brush (look at picture)

A rolling pin will also help.

The Dough

Make the dough into a big flat rectangle. Easy enough.

Add Your Toppings

Lay down some pizza sauce down the middle of the rectangle (going the long way).
Add mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.
Add whatever toppings you like (in my case, pepperoni).
Add more mozzarella cheese on top of that.

Very easy!

Let's Wrap This Up!

Now make slits on each sides, about 3/4" apart. Don't make the slits go all the way up to the sauce and toppings, just make it get close.

From there, take one slit and stretch it across the toppings to the bottom of the opposite slit. Repeat this process working your way up the calzone.

Not so hard!

Throw It in the Oven

Cook it in the oven on 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 17 minutes (Times may differ with ovens).

If you choose to, take it out of the oven after about 10 minutes.

Separate the egg whites from the egg yolk, and use the brush to 'paint' the calzone.
Once you covered it with egg whites, sprinkle some parmesan on top of the calzone.
Put it back in the oven for about 7 more minutes and you're done!

It Is Complete!

Take it out of the oven after those long seventeen minutes are up, and it is COMPLETE!

I hope you enjoyed the calzone and the Instructables! Constructive criticism please!
