How to Play the C Major Scale on a 4/4 Violin

When I first began playing the violin I learned the C Major scale. My teacher told me that all of the other scales derived from the C Major scale, from then on I decided that it would be very important for me to learn the scale as good as possible. I spent so much time practicing the scale at home and eventually it was really easy to play. After I learned the scale all of the other scales came to me so easily and I was able to learn the other scales a lot faster then others. In order to learn the intonation, the best thing to do is to put tape on the neck of the Violin, making it much easier to know what note you are playing.

The first note of the C Major scale is C. To play a C note, you will place your third finger on the G string about 7.5 cm from the top of the violin.

The second note on the C Major scale is D. To play the D note you use the D string.

place your first finger on the D string,playing an E note, about 3 cm from the top.

place your 2nd finger on the D string, which makes an F note, about 4.5 cm from the top.

Place your 3rd finger onto the D string, playing a G note, about 7.5 cm from the top.

Play the A string, only thing you do since its an open note.

place your 1st finger on the a string, about 3 cm from the top, playing a B note.p

Last but not least, place your 2nd finger onto the A string, about 4.5 cm from the top, playing the C note. What you just played was the C Major scale. Practice the steps repeatedly at your own pace, eventually seeing an improvement.
