How to Tie a Clinch Knot

I'm going to be teaching you how to tie a clinch knot for fishing hooks. I'm using these two items to tie the knot so it is easier to see. Just imagine it as a hook and fishing line.

Inserting the Line Through the Eye of the Hook

This part is simple. Just thread the line through the eye of the hook and pull or slide the hook down about 6 inches so you have room to tie the knot.

Making a Loop

Take the end of the line and make a loop over the other fishing line.

Starting to Twist the Line

Here is the tricky part. You need to take the end of the fishing line and wrap it around the other fishing line. This should be done five to six times.

Please look at the picture. This is what it should look like after you twisted it.

Knotting the Almost-done Clincher Knot

Now take the end of the line and push it through the loop right near the eye of the hook.

The Finishied Clincher Knot

Wet the knot so it becomes even harder to come loose. Now pull the end of the line through the loop and tighten it by pulling the end of the line. It is then advised to use nail clippers to stub the end of the line. Now you have your finished Clincher Knot!
