How to Tie a Double Windsor Knott (a Necktie)

These instructions present a simple, step-by-step process, to make a double Windsor
tie knot.

Step 1

Hang tie around neck with the thin side on the left, thick side on right.
Right side should hang down to the knee, seam towards body

Bring thick end over thin end, creating a X
Throughout process, hold X in place with one hand

Bring thick end behind thin end and up through the hole

Wrap thick end around the back of the entire knot, from left to right

Bring thick end straight up in front of knot, then straight down through hole.

Wrap thick end around front of the knot, right to left direction

Bring thick end underneath knot, up through the hole, and down the front of the knot, threading the thick end between two layers of the knot.

Hold thin end taut and push knot towards neck until tight
