Humanoid Hand

The purpose of this project is to improve my skills in designing and simulating joints movements using Blender mainly.

  • Designing programs are Blender and Solidworks.
  • Printer is modified Ender 3 pro with Cura slicer.
  • Print material PLA and Wood

I hope that you like my work. Your pieces of advice are most welcome.

Designing the Mesh

First step is to design the body mesh and shape it.

Building Bones (Rigify)

This step is the first step in simulating the movement. Like (most) living things, we need to build a skeleton to support the skin. The skeleton consists of different bones that support each other with joints between them to provide movement. Bones provide support the rigidity and support the structure. The goal of the joints is to make the movement possible. At this point, We also specify relations between different bones.

Modifying Bones Weights (weight Painting)

The second step of the simulation is adjusting bones influences. In Blender, this mission is called weight painting. I need to admit, this step can be complicated and a bit exhausting.

Slicing

Here we tune printer parameters.

After several hours of printing we get the raw model. 3D printing is the same as other manufacturing processes, it requires finishing steps. You can see end results.

Accidents Can Happen ;)

Yup! Accidents can happen. The most important thing is to provide first aid ;P
