Many people consider the IBM Trackpoint (found on Thinkpad laptops) to be the best input device in history.
By applying a little sugru you can transform it into a joystick for an entirely new control experience!
*I suggest that you do this to a spare trackpoint tip.
**Remember to remove the joystick before closing the laptop lid.
