Prepare a standard 15.25 oz. boxed cake mix per box instructions.

Arrange Your Cones for Filling

Per one box of prepared cake mix, arrange 18 cake type ice cream cones in a baking pan. I selected the colorful ones for a more festive presentation.

Fill Your Cones With Batter

Add batter to the ridge on the cone where it starts to flare. You can also add less to give room for thicker frosting or added fruit, etc. . .

Note: When you frost them they tend to become top heavy and fall over easily.

Ready to Frost

Bake in 350 oven for 22-26 minutes for cones filled up to ridge, Adjust cooking time if less batter is used.

Cake is done when knife inserted into middle comes out clean, or cake sticking up above cone edge longer appears wet.

Frost cake with desired frosting.

I went for the soft serve look using just a knife.

Using a frosting pastry bag can add a more realistic ice cream look.

Or, to get the hand dipped look, spread the frosting smoothly over the domes area and add piping with a pastry bag around the base of the dome.
