Ice Cup Attachment on TinkerCAD

We have recognized a problem when trying to get ice from the refrigerator the ice falls on the ground. Our solution to the problem is a funnel that can sit on the rim of a cup or bottle and create a higher, wider rim yet also let the ice fit through the bottom of the funnel.

For our final design we decided it must be:

  • Easy-to-Use/Understand
  • Accessible for most cups and water bottles
  • Equipped with a high rim and wide bottom

Supplies

Base Shape Measurments

You will start off with two paraboloids. You will have to alter the original measurements. The first paraboloid will need to measure (5"x 5"x 5") and the other paraboloid will be a hole with the measurements (4.8"x 4.8"x 5.2"). The measurements are a vital part but they could be changed to your liking. The measurements in millimeters are (127x127x127).

Aligning the Shapes

After making both paraboloids their correct measurements click the align button and align them by length and width but not height. The hole paraboloid should be a little taller than the solid. Make sure that before aligning your shapes the both of them are resting on the workplace

Adding the Cylinder

Bring a cylinder onto the workplane and alter the measurements to (3"x3"x2") then change it to a hole.

Aligning the Cones and Cylinder

After making the cylinder a hole tap the align button and align the shapes by length and width.

Grouping the Shapes

After the alignment drag your cursor over the shapes and tap the group button, your shape should now look like a funnel.

Using Slicer

Select the shape then click export, then click .STL. Open MakerBot Print, No supports should be needed, then download the project onto your computer, and then plug in your USB and download your project onto it. You should then plug it into your printer and when the extruder starts moving take the USB out.

Finished Project

After printing, the Ice funnel should be ready for use. Hopefully, you found this tutorial helpful and this object useful. Comment if you make it and have a nice day.
