Idaho Finger Steaks

DSC_0066.JPG
Originating right here in good'ol Idaho, Finger Steaks are strips of steak battered and fried. It's chicken fired steak turned into finger food and everyone loves an excuse to eat with their hands, right?!

My husband begs for these constantly and this instuctable gave me an opportunity to make him happy and to potentially win a prize! Try to forget how bad deep frying food is you and enjoy one of the best things Idaho has offered America, Finger Steaks!

Serve Finger steaks with homemade french fries and dip them in A-1, ranch, gravy, or another Idaho staple; fry-sauce! BONUS: I'll be including a recipe for fry-sauce as well!

If frying in a deep fryer set temperature to 375 degrees.
If frying in a pan turn heat to med high and measure oil temp with food thermometer.
If you don't have a thermometer (mine just broke) oil is hot enough when you dip a corner of finger steak in oil and it boils as shown.

While your waiting for oil to heat up, make yourself some delicious fry-sauce.

Mix equal parts ketchup and mayonnaise in a bowl and you're done!

When oil has reached temperature, place finger steaks in oil and cook 2-5 minutes until golden brown.

I recommend cooking one strip to begin with, testing for correct time and making sure your oil isn't too hot. Your oil is too hot if the outside cooks too fast for the inside to finish cooking!

After Finger Steaks are done cooking, place on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce, using your fingers of course!
