Improved Strike on Box Matches Case

Tired of the flimsy old cardboard boxes used to hold Strike on Box matches? Use an old deoderant stick to hold your matches, and still be able to strike the matches on the case.

In order to create a new and improved matches case, you'll need:

1.One old used deoderant stick.
2.The match box with striking surface still on the side.
3.Glue-I used Elmers, but feel free to use your favorite adhesive.
4.Some scissors.

(Optional)
-Sandpaper to rough up the side of the deoderant stick so that the glue does'nt fall off of the slick sides.
-Rubber bands to hold the striking surface onto the deoderant stick while it is drying.

When you get your deoderant stick:

-Take deoderant stick apart by removing the bottom plate that moves up and down when you turn the bottom wheel. Then simply take hold of the stick in the middle of the bottle and pull it out.
-Remove all leftover deoderant from the stick by scraping it with a papertowel, and thouroughly rinsing with a waterhose.

You can get rid of the sliding plate and stick that you removed from the deoderant bottle, or find another use for them.

The inside of the deoderant bottle should be clean and mostly clear of the deoderant.

-You can also remove the stickers from the sides of the deoderant stick for a more sleek look to your matches case.-

Now take the matches box and split it open at the glued seam on the side and open it up. Get your scissors and cut off one of the striking surfaces. (If you don't know what that is, it's the bumpy brownish part on the side of the box that you STRIKE the matches on.)

Get your (Optional) sandpaper, and rough up the sides of the deoderant stick. Then take the striking surface that you cut from the box and spread a nice thin layer of glue on the back, making sure to cover the complete surface, even the corners.

Now wrap the striking surface around the side of the deoderant bottle, press it on, and smack some rubber bands around it to dry.

It shouldn't take long to dry with a thin layer of glue on it because remember, Less is More when it comes to glueing things. The more glue you apply, the longer you wait for it to dry.

When the glue's dry, you can remove the rubber bands and insert the matches. Then you're all done!

If you're not completely confident in the top staying on the deoderant stick that holds your matches, Rivet, (Or glue), a strap that goes across the lid, and down to the side of the container. This way, even if the lid does find it's way off the top, you still have it secured to the side.
