Iron Man Hand Repulsor

Iron Man has always been my favorite. As a superhero he is the one who knows how to make money, satisfy the ladies and save the world.

The story of Iron Man begins when Tony Stark, a weapons manufacturer, is kidnapped and forced to build weapons for enemies . Instead of making missiles, Stark uses the parts he is given to create a makeshift suit of armor to escape .And that was the beginning of The Iron Man !!!!

After escaping form the enemies , he decides to make a better armor suit and while doing so he demonstrates the Hand Repulsor.

Repulsor beams are the type of arsenal that uses particle beam technology to repel the opponent away as well as leaving burns, mortal wounds, and even gaping holes. All models of Iron man's suits have had Repulsors integrated within the palms. These are the primary offensive weapons in any of the Iron Man armors.

Repulsors are mentally controlled by electronic nerve functions located in Iron Man's helmet.

Repulsors are generally used defensively and Stark often uses them to neutralize his opponents.

Repulsors have other uses as well. Stark's repulsors stabilize his flight as well as help him accelerate considering they help him "steer" throughout flight. In order for him to "steer" he puts his hands beside him (downward) and raises his palms. To stop he just puts his hands in front of him abruptly.

The day I watched Iron Man , I wanted to make the Hand Repulsor . First time when I was trying to make it it looked really tough but then my craze for superheros and my determination helped me to make one .

When it was completed I showed it to my friends and they said only one thing " Hey IRON MAN ! ".

So here I will show you a cheap and easy way to make a Hand Repulsor.

Supplies...

For making the Repulsor you will need these things :-

  • Newspaper
  • Cardboard
  • Sand paper
  • A pair of Scissors
  • Wires
  • White Glue
  • Industrial Adhesive (a much stronger and quick glue)
  • A screwdriver
  • A deodorant bottle
  • Stapler
  • Tape
  • 8 White LED
  • 1 Blue LED
  • TWO 9V battery
  • A Lens (I got it from my grandmothers old specks )
  • A Wire Cutter
  • Velcro
  • 2 switches

Making the Hand Piece

WP_20160802_13_06_56_Pro.jpg

For making the hand piece you will require a newspaper. You have to fold the newspaper to form a thick piece of newspaper . This will help you in making the base of the repulsor.

Folding the Paper

WP_20160802_13_10_49_Pro.jpg
WP_20160802_13_13_13_Pro.jpg

To make the base , you have to first fold the newspaper around you palm. Since the newspaper strip will be straight, it's ends will fold around your palm crossing each other. As they cross each other you have to pin then together with the help of the stapler . Now cut the excess part . After cutting the excess part cover the part stapled part with another strip of paper.

Making the Wrist Part

WP_20160802_13_19_52_Pro.jpg

To make the wrist part you have to again fold the newspaper to make a thick strip but this time it must have more width than the earlier one . Now roll the newspaper strip around your wrist and take the measurement accordingly.

You must take care that it's length should be more than your wrist because you have to attach velcro to it.

After taking the measurement cut the paper strip and Staple velcro on the ends .

You must take care that if you have stapled velcro on one end in the inner side then you have to staple the other part of the velcro on the outer side of the other end .

I prefer Stapling the velcro over Sticking. If you stick the velcro their are chances that it will be pulled out when you use it .

Metal for Arm Piece

WP_20160727_17_32_42_Pro (2).jpg

To make the arm piece you will require metal . But for such a little project buying metal sheets is not a viable option . So to avoid the expenditure you can use a deodorant bottle to get the metal .

Take a deodorant bottle and with the help of a sand paper remove the paint . Now with the help of a scissors cut the bottle into a sheet metal .

To cut the bottle first make a hole at the top and the bottom with the help of a screwdriver and start cutting with the scissors.

Cutting the Arm Piece

WP_20160802_12_34_02_Pro.jpg

On the metal sheet make a outline of a rectangle with the help of a pencil .

Now make a hole in the sheet with the help of the screwdriver and broaden the hole with the help of a wire cutter so that the scissor can be inserted in it.

Now cut down the metal sheet from just 3 sides . Don't Cut The Fourth Side

Folding the Metal

WP_20160802_13_01_42_Pro.jpg

Fold the metal inside from the fourth side and roll it around your arm to take the measurement .

If it fits perfectly then its okay but if not then you have to attach a extension .

To attach the extension you have to again follow the earlier step to get the metal sheet and to cut a small piece out of it .

Stick the small piece on both the sides . The length of the piece should be according to your Arm size

Making the Central LED Piece

WP_20160802_13_30_42_Pro.jpg
WP_20160802_13_33_18_Pro.jpg

To make it you will require a circular cardboard piece . Remember that its diameter should be according to the lens.

Now make a hole in the center , then make 8 more holes around it .

I used so many LED's to get the maximum amount of light .

If you want you can even use a Camera Flash instead of LED's. But make sure you have enough knowledge of it's circuit .

Sticking and Soldering

WP_20160802_13_41_50_Pro.jpg
WP_20160802_13_39_15_Pro.jpg

You have to wrap a cardboard piece around the circular disc .

Before doing it you must solder the LED's.

I have soldered the LED's in such a way that 5 White LED's can be connected to one battery . The central Blue and the rest 3 White LED's are soldered together and connected to other battery .

Attaching the Lens and Sticking to the Hand Piece

WP_20160802_13_58_14_Pro.jpg

Now Stick the Lens over the Central Piece . Before sticking the Lens , I painted it silver to make it look good.

Now to it attach the wires of the LED's.

The length of the wires should be according to the length of your hand.

Pre-Assembly

WP_20160802_13_58_30_Pro.jpg

On the wrist part stick the battery and the switch and make their connections to the LED's.

I will mention that paper is not strong enough to hold on 2 battery's together . So to make it stronger you can use use a metal sheet (the one from deodorant bottle). Stick the metal sheet on the paper so that it makes it sturdy .

Viewing

WP_20160802_13_59_17_Pro.jpg

Now setup the whole thing temporarily just for viewing and deciding the later steps.

Sticking Wires on the Arm Piece

WP_20160802_19_56_54_Pro.jpg

Stick some colourful wires on the Arm Piece to make it look good .

Although the wires have no use in the circuit but they are used just to make it look good and a bit scientific .

Painting

WP_20160802_18_41_57_Pro.jpg
WP_20160802_18_42_09_Pro.jpg

After completing , paint it silver .

Add detailing to it with the help of some black colour.

Final Assembly

WP_20160802_19_20_59_Pro.jpg

After painting stick the arm piece and the wrist piece together . Sticking the wires is a bit messy and difficult work but you will enjoy it.

Enjoy Your Creation !!!
