It's a Pumpkin Eat Pumpkin World...

This Instructable will detail how to create some cool carnivorous (pumpkinous?) pumpkins that look like they are eating each other!

What you need for this project:

• Three (3) pumpkins, of descending/ascending size
• Pumpkin carving knife
• Creativity
• Tea light candles

You want your pumpkins to be three different sizes: a small, a medium, and a large. You could even go further if you want to, but it gets hard to find pumpkins that big. ;)

Roughly measure the pumpkins in relation to the other ones. Set them up. Does is look nice? Can the biggest one eat the medium one, and can the medium one eat the small one? If so, you've got your pumpkins.

Grab a pencil and design the faces on the pumpkins. Here's your time to shine, to make the coolest face everrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!

For the smallest guy, I did crescent moon eyes kind of looking backwards at the guy behind him. I added line eyebrows (see pic for placement) to make him look scared, and a huge screaming mouth for the finish.

For the medium guy, I had evil slanty eyes and a gaping mouth with sharp teeth. I had to redraw the mouth so it would definitely be big enough for the smallest pumpkin.

For the huge guy, I didn't get a picture of the design, but you can see the "after carving" pictures. I made him a cyclops pumpkin with only one eye. His mouth was humongo with sharp teeth also.

The best part, carving! My family always carves the top of first and then cuts out the design after the pumpkin guts are cleaned out. So, do this, and repeat for each pumpkin.

For the lid, I suggest either cutting jags in the top or a notch so you don't put it on backwards or sideways. Also, remember to put a hole for the fumes from the candle to escape. Otherwise, they'll burn your lid and warp it.

Get a spoon to take out all of the guts. Save them insides for later on in the project. Mwahahahaha...

MAKE SURE YOU REMEMBER WHAT YOU'RE CUTTING. Don't make the mistake of cutting out a circle for a mouth and totally forgetting about the teeth. Not that I would know anything about doing that....

It turned out my smallest pumpkin became too hard to cut. I guess he was "petrified" of the other pumpkins going to eat him. ; ) I got another one and redid the design.

Additionally, when you are taking out any piece you cut out, especially the mouth, be careful! You don't want to break the teeth or pumpkin face.

For the mouthes, I cut the junk pieces into four sections. That way, I only had to worry about a little section each time I had to remove a piece. Keep these pieces for later on!

Ok, now that you kept those mouth cutouts and the guts, we're going to move onto set-up. I found the small pumpkin looked better when he was elevated, so I sat him on a piece of the cyclops' mouth. The cyclops kept falling over, now that he had less frontal weight, so I wedged another piece of mouth behind him (see pic).

Okay, now grab your guts! I had a nice long one that kind of looked like a tongue, and that's what it became. Place the goopy goodies in the mouthes of the hungry pumpkins, maybe slobbering over their victim. It'll look pretty sweet!

Put your tea lights in, and light them of course, and have a happy Halloween!
