Today I will show you, how you can make this beautiful piece of art. Here’s a step by step guide:

MATERIAL:

1. Any air dry moulding clay
2. Sculpting tools and big plastic plate
3. Knife Medium size
4. Rolling pin or bottle
5. Craft knife or clay tools
6. Any acrylic, fabric, or water-based paint
7. Paint brush
8. Water
9. Toothpick or clay tool
10. Varnish or clear sealer(optional)

1. Unwrap the Resin Base and Hardener:

the clay that I have used in this project is Fevicryl Mouldit which comes in two components:

the resin base(white) and the hardener(greyish or beige).

1. Wear gloves:

Since the clay is a little sticky when you first mix it, wearing gloves can make it more comfortable to handle.

1. Combine equal parts:

take equal quantities of the resin base and the hardener. This ratio is important for the clay to cure properly.

1. Knead thoroughly:

Start kneading the two components together until you get a uniform colour (usually consistent off-white). Ensure there are no streaks, as this indicates incomplete mixing. The clay should be soft and pliable at this stage.

1. After mixing, you’ll have approximately 30 minutes to 35 minutes before the clay begin to harder.

1. Shape the Cap: Roll a ball of clay(mixing resin base and hardener and make a ball) and flatten the top slightly. Create a dome shape to resemble a mushroom cap. Make sure the size is large enough to hold several pairs earrings.
2. Hollow out the cap: Use your thumbs or spoon to gently press into the underside of the cap, hollowing it out. This will allow earrings to be placed around it.
3. Add Texture: Use a toothpick or any pointed object to create small holes on the sides of the mushroom cap to hang earrings.

1. Roll a cylindrical piece of clay for the mushroom stem. Attach the stem to the centre of the mushroom cap. Smooth the joint with a bit of water to ensure the two parts adhere properly.
2. Texture : You can add texture to the stem by using a knife to lightly score vertical lines for a more realistic mushroom look.
3. Your 1^st big mushroom is ready, repeat the same process and make one small mushroom.

1. Body and Head: Roll a small ball of a clay for the frogs body and two smaller balls for the head. Attach the head to the body.
2. Legs: Make two small sausages for the legs. Flatten and shape two front legs to place in front of the body.
3. Hands: Make two more small balls of a clay and create a small leaf like structure for the hands of the frog, and then attach to the body of the frog.
4. Eyes: Create two small balls of clay for the eyes and press onto the frog’s head. Use a toothpick to add nostrils and a smile.
5. Repeat the process and make two more frogs.

1. Body: Roll a thin and elongated piece of a clay for the snails body. Shape the head by pinching one end.
2. Shell: Roll another ball of clay and flatten it slightly. Then roll it into spiral for the snail’s shell. Attach the shell to the snail’s body
3. Details: Use a toothpick to mark details like eyes(also you can make eyes from clay) and patterns on the snail’s shell.
4. Repeat the process and make one more snail.

1. Roll out 4 to 5 thin sheets of clay using the rolling pin and make small size circles.
2. Then the circles made from the clay have to be layered into a stack then rolled into a roll and cut from between.
3. Your rose is ready, use water for finishing.
4. Repeat the process and make one more rose.

1. Take a small amount of clay and roll it into a ball or oval shape, depending on the type of stone you want to make. You can vary the size and shape for a more natural look.
2. For more natural, irregular-shaped stones, lightly pinch or twist the clay after forming the initial shape.
3. Use a bit of water to smooth out any cracks or rough edges in the clay.

1. Take a large chunk of clay and roll it out on a flat surface using a rolling pin or bottle. Aim for a thickness of about 0.5 to 1 cm, ensuring it’s sturdy enough to support the weight of the all other designs (mushroom, frogs, snails, roses).
2. Smooth the edges: if the edges are rough, use a little water to smooth them out with your fingers.
3. Irregular/ Natural Base: For a more organic look, you can mold the edges with fingers to create a natural, uneven base.

1. Ones you shaped the base, press the mushroom earring holder onto the one end of the base and put the small mushroom on the side of the big mushroom.
2. On the second side of big mushroom, press the one rose.
3. On the second end of the base, make small pond from the stones which we made from the clay.
4. Press both the frogs sit facing each other on the both sides of the pond and third frog will sit beside other side of the pond.
5. Place the snail beside small mushroom and another snail will place on the second end of the base near the pond.

1. Let the clay sculpture air dry completely according to the clay manufacture’s instructions(usually 24-48 hours). Ensure it dries completely.

1. Ones fully dry, paint the mushroom cap light blue (or any desired colour) with white spots for a classic mushroom look.
2. Paint a stem a natural beige or white colour.
3. For the frog, use shades of green.
4. Paint the snail’s shell with a spiral design, and give the body a beautiful mustard yellow colour. Add fine details such as eyes, smile, and pattern using a thin brush.
5. For the rose I choose light pink color.
6. Paint the base a light green color which shows a natural green land.
7. On the sides of the base I add a beautiful design.

1. Once the paint has dried, you can apply a clear sealant or varnish for protection and a glossy finish.

Now you have a whimsical mushroom earring holder with a beautiful different elements to display your earrings.

1. Keep water handy to smooth out rough edges in the clay while sculpting
2. Make sure the clay component are well attached to avoid them breaking after drying.
3. Don’t mix water in the fevicryl mouldit clay for making clay soft.
4. If the clay is too sticky, you can add talcum powder. You can also use talcum powder to coat the clay and rolling pin to create a smooth texture.
5. Mouldit starts to harden after about 30-40 minutes, so work in small portion.
6. Ensure that your sculpture has an even thickness throughout. Thicker parts take longer to dry and might crack.
7. When attaching pieces of clay, roughen up the joining areas and add a bit of water to ensure a strong bond.
8. Ones the clay is fully dry, sand the surface using find sandpaper to smooth out imperfection or edges.
9. Keep your dried and painted creation in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture from affecting them.
