Jalapeno Lime Infused Salt
Add a kick to your margarita or guacamole with this tasty jalapeno and lime infused salt. Super easy to make and so much cheaper than the gourmet stuff you find online (I've never seen any kind of jalapeno salt in stores). Flavored salts also make a great gift!
BoM
1 1/2 cups sea salt
1-2 fresh jalapenos, cleaned
1 lime zest
1 tsp lime juice
Prep
Clean and prep your jalapenos, slicing as thin as you can. Wash and zest the lime, reserve lime juice. Let everything dry on paper towel.
Salt
Lay a thin layer of salt down on tinfoil or parchment paper. Layer the jalapenos and lime zest onto the salt. Cover with another layer of salt. Add any extra lime zest and squeeze lime juice around the salt (not in one place).
Dry
Dry the salt by either letting it sit out for however long it takes (really it's not that long for the lime juice to dry) or by slowly dehydrating it in a toaster oven. Let cool.
Store
Transfer the salt mixture to a sterilized and dry container. Give it a shake to mix everything up and then let it sit for a week to infuse. Give the jar daily shake to prevent against clumps. This salt infusion should last 2-3 months.
