James Develin Gym and Physical Therapy Center
Hello everybody!!! I am excited to share this Tinkercad design with you. There are a lot of elements included in this design, and they are, to the best of my abilities, COVID-19 friendly. Enjoy!
Brainstorming
The Main Room
On our virtual tour, let's start with the front, where we all enter the building. Here you can see stairs and a wheelchair ramp for accessibility, leading up to a small stoop. The blue rectangle you see above is a wheelchair accessible button to automatically open doors. There is one on every door in the building, except for the elevators, which have their own buttons, and the bathroom stalls, which would swing open easily. The next image, as you can probably guess, is the main room. It is where the people would first enter, get checked in at the desk, wait for their room to open up, etc. Everyone who enters would be asked to wear a mask and depending on where in the world the gym is, only a certain amount of masked people would be let into the main room at a time while social distancing. Now we will move on to the actual gyms themselves.
The Gyms
In this area we have four one person gym areas, for COVID safety. They are simple, so more can be added if needed. I included pictures of each one, and an overview of all of them. In the individual shots, I included the main room so you could get a better idea of where it is. I also included a number on each one so I could refer back to them if needed. These gyms are meant for regular exercising. The rehabilitation gyms are on the second floor. In this step I am also going to include the room in between gyms 2 and 3. This is just the room that leads to other rooms and hallways such as 2 of the gyms, the pool, and the locker rooms. It also has a vending machine that can be stocked with energy drinks and healthy snacks. Next we will explore the pool area.
The Pool Area
In the image you can see that I have circled the two doors that lead in and out of the pool area. The one on the bottom edge leads to the room with the vending machine. The door along the right edge leads out into the hallway to the locker rooms. You will notice that they both have the wheelchair accessible buttons. The pool has stairs leading down into it, and if needed, a wheelchair lift can be installed. While the pool could be sectioned off, the CDC (U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) says that when properly maintained, chlorinated pool water inactivates COVID-19, so it is safe to swim in. You can also see that there is a towel shelf where people can use one of the center's towels to dry off. The towels will of course be properly sanitized in between uses. Now we can move on the the locker rooms.
The Locker Rooms
These are the locker rooms, where people can go to shower, go to the bathroom, or dry off and get dressed after swimming in the pool. The first image you see is an overshot of the locker rooms. They have women's and men's rooms, with a waiting area, 2 showers, and 2 toilet stalls per room. The second image is an overview from the top. Then we have close-ups of a shower and a toilet stall. I was not able to get it in the shot, but there are also drains on the floors of the showers. And I almost forgot about the hallway. Ta-da!!! 🤗 It's a hallway! The hallway also leads to the elevators, which we will get to after one last element of the first floor. The last element is a storage room. This can be used to store dirty towels, extra parts, pretty much anything that can't just lie around. Now, on to the elevator!
The Elevator
This is going to be a shorter step, because it is very simple. The first picture is the back of the elevator, from the view of someone outside. The second image is of the view of the elevator from someone thinking about entering it. And the third picture is the view of someone who actually got IN the elevator. There are only two buttons, up and down, because there are only two floors. Let's go up the elevator and check out the second floor! Woo-hoo!!! [Clicks up button]
The Hallway
We are going to start right where we left off, when we get off the elevator. Above, the first 2 images are of the scene when the elevator doors open, and the scene after you step through the door. Should we explore the basketball court first, or the physical therapy gyms. Okay, I just got the vote from my mom, dad, and brother. We are going to the gyms first, and finishing up with the basketball court.
The Physical Therapy Gyms
The physical therapy gyms, as implied, are to be used for physical therapy. Still meant for one person, a patient and a trainer can go in and wear masks and social distance. First we have the door leading into one of the gyms. I am only going to show you one gym, because they are all identical. Then we have some rainbow colored weights, floor cushions, and parallel bars. More can be added and rearranged, as with everything else. I don't know much about physical therapy, but I think parallel bars can be used to relearn walking or strengthen muscles??? There is also an overview of all the gyms.
The Basketball Court
Here is a place where patients or members can come to play a simulating game of basketball, combining exercise and fun! This may not fit inside some state's COVID regulations, but until the virus is over, individuals can come and practice their shooting. The first image is of the door leading into the basketball court from the hallway. As you can see from the second picture, there are two hoops, a ball, a court, etc. We have one or two more steps before we're done. Hope you like it so far!
Putting Them Together
Here I put the second floor (the one with the basketball court) on top of the fist floor. Then I put a flat roof on top of the second floor, to make it look finished. I then added a sign to make it official. Included on this step are the inside tops again.
Finishing Touches
Alright! We're almost done, and I just wanted to add a finishing touch to make this gym look a little less...boring. :P Nobody likes boring, so let's do it! Above you will see a bunch of photos on how I made a flowerpots for the front of the gym. First, you drag out a paraboloid and a cylinder. Make the paraboloid 20mm by 20mm, and however tall you want. You can make the cylinder 15mm by 15mm, and again, however tall you want. Then you can center them and make 4-ish. You can make 2 of them taller, and then position them on either side of the building. Then you can take 3 dowels and resize them how you want. Make the flowers with the scribble tool, and then put them in the pots. Thanks for reading!
