The main aim of this project is to build a creative sustainable gym with facilities like workout equipment , rehabilitation, healing, and inclusion. The structure of my design is : a bone combined with dumbbell which symbolizes overall strength .

This design includes solar panels for renewable energy , generating electricity from exercise cycles. From all basic amenities to enjoyment, everything is included in this design . Facilities for the disabled , workout halls , rehab zones , food courts , open air meditation hall, outdoor swimming pool with aquatics, fun activities like wall rock climbing and sand walkway ,snooker table, low cost workout equipment for senior citizens and more.

Designing the layout of the gym. This gym is glass furnished for transparent look . It provides great lighting during the day since most of the building is made of light tinted/frosted/clear glass . The four corners are covered with steel for changing rooms/washrooms and weights rooms.

Floor planning for gym and rehabilitation . I have designed half portion for gymnasium and other half for rehab and relaxation . The gym has two cubicles attached by a walk-way which is in the shape of a dumbbell. The walk-way has monkey bars which are a great strength building exercise. The rehab portion has a hot spring pool with a seating above for relaxation . It has two washrooms/ changing rooms with lockers.

This physical rehabilitation zone has a hot spring pool which relaxes the muscles after intense workout . It has an elevated seating with a knee level hot spring pool , facing the outdoor view . There are many benefits of hot springs : it helps reduce stress by relaxing tense muscles. Relieves pain naturally. Burns calories. That’s right! Soaking in hot springs burns 140 calories per hour . Also help you relax and fall into a deeper sleep.

This washroom is built with facilities for disabled with seating and lockers inside. With five toilets and four bathrooms maintaining hygiene . There is a locker facility for security and two benches for physically disabled.

This section is an immersive sports performance training facility. This is created in the shape of a dumbbell with the concept of modularity. It has two cubicles and a separate common workout room with mirrors and lockers for group workouts . The cycles used for exercise can be used to generate electricity ,which is a sustainable idea. There are stair climbers which are great for cardio workouts .

Monkey Bars and Sand Walkway

This is a dual use of the space with sand walkway for strength training , monkey bars for good balance and posture and wall rock climbing(for children) for flexibility . The two rooms are connected through a walkway which has monkey bars which are a great strength building exercise . The side wall also consists of indoor common rock climbing for children . The walkway is filled with sand which gives a great resistance training workout good for strength and speed . Sand workout also helps reduce muscle soreness after injuries and intense workout ,which is great workout and recovery for athletes. Sand jackets should be worn while entering the sand walkway ensuring hygiene .

Indoor Rock Climbing

This is a common feature for two rooms , common workout room and walkway. Rock climbing is a great enjoyable full body workout which increases strength and flexibility, also helps improve coordination.

Elevators take up a lot of space and are expensive. So, we introduce stair lift for disabled persons in this gym, so that it consumes less space and is cost effective. It can be installed to the regular staircase (dual use of space). This is a foldable unit which can be folded when not in use to minimize space consumption.

Swimming Pool

Outdoor swimming pool with aquatics training facilities. Working out in water is a great resistance workout for strength building. This pool has a ramp for physically disabled persons . This is an outdoor swimming pool with ample of sunlight ensuring hygiene .

Outdoor Mini Cycles and Treadmill Cycle

There are fixed mini pedaling cycles setup at the front porch of the gym for senior citizens , which can improve overall fitness, burn calories, improve tone ,maintain healthy joints and improve circulation.

Treadmill cycles are an enjoyable exercise , in which you can walk and ride at the same time. You can enjoy a ride while working out on the treadmill which is a great as walking burns a lot of calories and is a great for recovering from injuries.

Meditation and Healing

The second floor has a meditation and healing rooms and also food court with healthy foods and protein supplements. Healing room has a sound healing facility which is great for relaxation and heals negative energies also healing the body . The meditation room also has yoga facilities . This has a pyramid meditation facility which improves concentration and heal the body .

Chiropractic and Physiotherapy

An athlete can easily end up with stiffness and pain in their joints. Spinal alignment issues may cause their range of motion to be limited, thereby inhibiting their overall athletic performance. Chiropractic treatment leads to improved range of motion. Most professional athletes travel with chiropractors to get chiropractic care on short notice. According to a 2002 study, only 31 percent of NFL teams employed chiropractors.

Physiotherapy helps through physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, and health and fitness. Sports physiotherapy help athletes to recover at a faster rate. They also ensure that the injury doesn't get too complicated in the future.

The roof has solar panels for retaining sunlight and using solar energy for electricity . As gyms are open mostly during the days , this can be great source of energy and is sustainable.
