Jar of Dreams

Dreams are such an important part of being human, both in the sleeping and waking world. Being rested well is how we dream well. Let's make a little dream night light out of a jar to honor and protect our dreams.

Supplies

-tissue paper

-scissors

-Modge Podge (or other white glue)

-paintbrush

-LED candle

-empty jar with lid

Cut Up the Tissue Paper

I happened to have a scrap of tissue paper with suns and moons on it lying around, but you can use any color! In fact, a solid color will let more light through; I just really liked the pattern!

Cut your tissue paper into small squares. They don't have to be perfect! Somewhere between 1/2" and 1" squareish. You'll need enough to cover your jar.

Stick the Tissue Paper on the Jar

Paint the outside of your jar with Modge Podge or glue and stick the tissue paper squares on until the entire jar is covered. The pieces of tissue paper can overlap! (You don't need to cover the bottom.)

Coat the Entire Jar

Once the whole jar is covered in tissue paper squares, paint over the entire thing with a thin layer of Modge Podge or glue. Let it dry.

Prepare Your Candle

You can get these little LED candles at the Dollar Tree. Firmly pull the little fake flame off the LED bulb. You can leave it on if you like, but taking it off will make the light shine brighter!

Decorate Your Lid

Draw a big circle on your tissue paper around your lid, giving an inch or two of extra paper. Cut it out. Place it between the two pieces of your jar's lid. Turn on the candle, place it in the bottom of the jar, and screw on the lid.

(Note: If you're using a jar that has a lid with a single piece, you can just Modge Podge a circle of tissue paper onto the top for decoration, if you like!)

Admire Your Jar of Dreams

In a dim space, the dream jar will flicker and glow, like it's full of fireflies...or dreams!
