Jello Mocktail

Here is a refreshing jello recipe, with a cute presentation that is perfect for summer!

The main part consists of orange flavored jello with grenadine syrup at the bottom, for a tequila sunrise look.

In addition, lemon flavored jello cubes are placed on top to look like floating ice cubes.

The whole thing should be served in a cocktail glass, adding a small umbrella to get the complete look!

Supplies

  • 1 orange
  • 1 lemon
  • 4 g of agar-agar
  • 160 g of granulated sugar
  • grenadine syrup (or any berry syrup), to taste
  • water
  • ice cube mold (or similar)
  • 2 cocktail glasses (heat resistant)

Squeeze the lemon and transfer the juice into a measuring cup.

Add enough water to have 300 ml in total and taste the diluted juice. Add more water if it is still too sour.

Then, make the jello:

  • Put 80 g of sugar in a saucepan, then add 2 g of agar-agar.
  • Add 150 ml of the diluted lemon juice and stir.
  • Heat and keep stirring until the preparation is boiling.

Pour the preparation into the ice cubes mold (or any similar mold).

Once it has cooled down a bit, place in the fridge for at least 2 hours, then unmold the cubes.

The cubes must be finished before starting the next step.

Squeeze the orange and transfer the juice into a measuring cup.

If necessary, add enough water to the juice to reach a total volume of 150 ml.

The next steps are the same as for the lemon jello:

  • Put 80 g of sugar in a saucepan, then add 2 g of agar-agar.
  • Add 150 ml of orange juice and stir.
  • Heat and keep stirring until the preparation is boiling.

Pour the preparation into the cocktail glasses.

Wait 5 minutes, then slowly pour the grenadine syrup so that it falls at the bottom of each glass, without mixing with the still liquid jello.

Finishing Touches

After you have poured the orange jello and grenadine syrup, wait for 20 to 25 minutes.

Test the consistency of the jello with a toothpick (for example).

The lemon flavored jello cubes should be added in the glasses when the orange jello is not liquid anymore but is not totally firm yet either.

The idea is to have the cubes only partially included in the orange jello (looking like they are floating at the surface).

Once you have added the cubes, sprinkle a bit of granulated sugar on the surface of the orange jello.

Finally, add a small umbrella (or other decorations!).

Then, place the Jello Mocktails in the fridge for at least 2 hours so that the jello sets completely.

Serve fresh!
