Jointed Dragon

Make a dragon articulated. It consists of 42 articulated parts, which are connected by an elastic cord.

Tips for print:

The pieces have little contact surface to the base, so it is very important to have well-fitting bed printer. Add brim adhesion or raft when you set the G-code.

No need to add any additional support because the files include small supports that have to eliminate once printed.

I have printed 0,2 mm high layer and a filling density of 10%. Only the head is 0.14 mm layer height to give greater definition and 40% filler for resistance to the horns.

The parts of the neck and tail are numbered. Look at this image for placement.

If you want the jaw is articulated print this head

Removes the supports with the aid of a pliers and Sanding pieces. Reviews the pieces with emery tool, you can also use a hot soldering iron to help soften the areas of supports.

If you want you can print the head and eyes separately to give more realism to the look.

To make the eyes we give these tips:

• Print files eyes
• Paint them with nail polish.
• For the pupil uses a fine brush or a sharp object (like a stick) to give some detail.
• When dry, a way to simulate the glossy effect and create depth in the eye is to apply a crystal polyester resin (this product is ideal for encapsulated and simulate glass). Although not as tough can substitute another product you'll find at hand and is more economical: the liquid silicone adhesive. It is mainly used for bonding rubber Eva. It also has the property of being very crystalline and slightly reduce its volume during drying. You can use glue to stick them inside my head but it is more advisable adhesive caulk (Blu-Tack type) to remove them or move them if you wish.

Join the pieces of dragon with elastic cords.

They are joined by five sections of cords knotting where you can create more convenient:

• 2 for the wings (65 cm and 45 cm)
• 1 from head to tail (90 cm)
• 1 in the front legs (50 cm)
• 1 in the rear legs (50 cm)

It's really important to tension the elastic cords, so the dragon could keep the positions. This is the hardest part of the whole process.
